About

Systems, people and the space between vision and reality.

I have spent more than fifteen years moving progressively upstream—from designing artifacts, to designing experiences, to helping shape the decisions, alignment and operating conditions that make transformation possible.

Design taught me to look for the experience. Engineering taught me to look for the system.

The work I do now sits between those perspectives. I am drawn to situations where the answer is not obvious because the problem itself has not been framed clearly enough yet.

That often means working across competing agendas, technical possibilities, operating constraints and the lived reality of people who eventually have to use, adopt or sustain what gets built.

I care about the abstract and the practical at the same time: philosophy and feasibility, future vision and present choices, human experience and business value. The goal is not to simplify complexity until it becomes inaccurate. It is to make it understandable enough to move.

I also write. Frameworks, essays and books give me a way to make recurring patterns explicit, test them, and bring a more considered point of view back into the work.

Perspective

See patterns across silos.

Look for relationships that become invisible when every team only sees its own part of the system.

Discipline

Make ideas answer to reality.

Translate ambition into choices, dependencies, measures and roadmaps that survive contact with actual constraints.

Humanity

Keep people inside the strategy.

Human experience is not the soft layer after the hard work. It is part of whether the hard work creates value at all.
